Drones are what's hot right now. Many types and models fall well within the consumer/prosumer budget. Just about anyone can get their hands on one. Just because one can however does not mean they should. So here are some question to ask before hiring or contracting anyone for arial imaging using a small Unmanned Aircraft System (sUAS)
Is your pilot's sUAS registered?
Failure to register an unmanned aircraft may result in regulatory and criminal penalties. The FAA may assess civil penalties up to $27,500. Criminal penalties include fines of up to $250,000 and/or imprisonment for up to three years. http://www.faa.gov/uas/faqs/
Is your pilot licensed/certified?
The Small UAS Rule (Part 107), including all pilot and operating rules, became effective on August 29, 2016. It requires all non hobbyist to hold a Remote Pilot Certification for Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems. Is your pilot insured?
Accidents can and do happen. We each individually carry $2,500,000 Comprehensive General Liability insurance. Is your pilot/operator insured? Ours are.
